Since my last post I resolved to give up shopping for a month. It’s now nearly two months and I’ve surprised myself by hardly shopping at all. In February I nearly caved over the first edition of Porter magazine at £5, only for karma to pay out and send me a FREE copy from Net-A-Porter a week later (apparently, because I am on their research panel, I get a free subscription. Go me!) To be honest I’ve been as good as gold, despite the temptation of Net-A-Porter offering free shipping, which never comes at the time I actually need it, 20% off promotions from ASOS, and other offers emailed to me on a daily basis, tempting me into the online worlds of luxury fashion and gorgeous dresses. And shoes. Lots and lots of shoes.
Ultimately, I’ve been too busy with work and enjoying the sun really to buy anything, with the exception of two wine ‘bibles’ (the final straw of tasting shit wine was drinking a revolting glass of rosé and ruining a perfect summer’s day in Weymouth. I sent it back to the bar outraged), a pencil dress (slight addiction), and a pair of Toms. In my defense, however, the shoes were an important work-related necessity, as I don’t own a pair of black flats, and it would have been two pencil dresses had the zip not broken on one. Oh, and some more Chanel perfume. But you can’t deny a lady her Chanel! And YSL. I’ve been hankering for a Touche Eclat radiance pen for YEARS. Really that’s it.
That’s pretty good for me!
