From London to Paris... Next stop New York?!

To anyone wondering about my week of silence and no posts, give the girl a break! Just had a week off for half term, and golly it was incredible! All my hard work and patience has had effect, as I definitely had good karma with me all week! But less seems to happen in England anyway, and this is a blog about Paris, not a diary of my life!

It took a short journey in my beautiful car to get used to lefty-driving again, and only twice did I reach for the door handle to change gears. Earlier this afternoon I reached my arm out to touch the other door from my drivers seat (small car/ long arms) just to appreciate the amazing-ness of small cars. Boy I'm going to miss that speedy tin can!

I have done so much shopping this week (even Holly said I should stop spending) though bear in mind that this is my lot until Christmas! I was lucky to arrive in time for the autumn sales - before all the Winter lines hit the shelves, but generally can't get over how cheap England is compared to Paris!! I bought the bag-of-my-life, which is even better than the Marc Jacobs bag I was (secretly) planning to buy, but 1/8th of the price!! Topshop (my wonderland) was my biggest excitement, followed by Accessorize and River Island, and good old Nero's for their de'lish chocolat chaud.

I stayed with a friend this week - famous for her political arguments, diet coke addiction and enthusiasm for class events (such as World Book Day!) and I couldn't have had as good a time anywhere else! In between my many waitressing shifts at my restaurant (always puts a smile of my face!) and numerous shopping trips, we had family days out including bowling and a cinema trip (went to see The Social Network for the second time, and it was just as good, if not better!). It was nice to chill at home with hot chocolate and marshmallows (only the white ones) in front of 'Friends' or X-Factor, and I also brought a good selection of films! Neither of us have sisters, so it was pretty awesome living with her and I felt very privileged to be given a house key. :) I also showed off a few of my French cuisine skills by cooking the family 'Scotch Pancakes', which are a LOT easier than the large pan-sized pancakes I cook for the girls in France. Being back in England has made me realise all the little things I miss, such as Baked Beans, Marmite and sprouts (not all at once!), so I'm bringing a bag of sprouts back with me!!

I refused to return to Paris with the huge-ass suitcase I brought last time. Big as it was, it was damn heavy even when empty, so today I've settled with my smaller 'holiday' suitcase and then a very large 'handbag' style suitcase. It's still a lot, but I have managed to fit in 6 vital and much-needed pairs of shoes into them, my laptop, iPod speakers, half of Topshop and of course, my bag of sprouts! In all seriousness, I have packed and unpacked, sat on and stuffed my suitcase(s) so many times, and I cannot take out a single thing more! I'm just trying not to think about how I'll manage it all on the metro once in Paris, or through those turn-styles...

I'm staying with my amazing-Aunt tonight in London, and hoping to catch the X-Factor this evening as my last TV program until Christmas! One needs cheesy TV every so often. It's been amazing weather for most of the week - I've been telling everyone 'I've brought the sun back with me!' Although today's the first day I've actually noticed Autumn 'breaking out' - yellow/ochre trees, leaves on the pavements and RAIN.

So heading back for Round 2 in Paris, and pretty excited! I've only got 48 days in Paris until I'm back for Christmas, which sounds like a really fun challenge (with light at the end of the tunnel!). Having said that, I'll probably get to day 12 and be wailing 'WHY did I EVER come back???!' and be attempting to mail myself home in a cardboard box by day 27. (Rosie, look out for any unusually large packages outside your door, and please handle with care!)
