3 days down...

New trick: Storing all best-chilled items outside my skylight… Yes, it includes perching on my window ledge and daringly leaning out across the roof to a side ledge, and maybe if I get more confident actually sticking a leg out onto the roof, but it’s the best place I can store my leftover yoghurts from England and diet coke without anyone else pinching it! I have Rosie to blame for this life-threatening idea. I’m sure the ledge from her window was closer…
This week’s going fairly quickly, and nothing’s really gone wrong but stress-levels are rising after today, and it’s frustrating swapping between 2 weeks of freedom and friendship to a lifetime of selfish kids and crazy french family life. 3 days down. 37 days to go. I wish it would hurry up…

Ways to count down the days:
- Build an arc. May require more than a week's pay to buy wood.
- Take a page out of Moses' book and climb a mountain (would be difficult to do that and look after the children... I don't think Crazy Caroline or Wacky William would approve of that, although to be honest I don't think they'd be around to even notice that they'd gone!) Maybe the Eiffel Tower would count? Although I think I'd have Security drag me back down after closing time on day 1...
- I could... lie on my right side for 40 days (Just like Ezekiel - Ezek 4:6) 'to symbolise the sins of Judah' or anyone else for that matter, but that might get in the way of cooking... and driving.
- Wander a desert - slightly challenging being in France.
- Read one page a day of my magazine... slightly depressing in itself!
- Pack one thing into my suitcase each day - now THAT'S quite a good idea, as it would allow sufficient time for sensible planning for packing... Although I've DEFINITELY accumulated a lot more than 40 odd items... Maybe 5 things a day more like?!
- Of course, I'm still working on my French course, so maybe learn 10-20 words a day? That seems a sensible idea, definitely one I'll do, but not as exciting as climbing a mountain (and DON'T tell me it's a 'challenge of the mind'!)
- Forget deserts and climbing mountains, maybe I could WALK home in 40 days? Although then it'd be quite depressing to have to come all the way back again just to collect my stuff... and that still leaves the problem of looking after the kids.
- Learn a new skill! Erm... knot-tying? origami? I'm lacking resources here for anything that requires more than the basics. (And thread/wool/elephant tusk/paint is not considered a basic...)

We'll think of something. I already have a oh-em-gee-so-totally-awesome Countdown Calendar which is very exciting. :) I have 5 weekends to go. Maybe by the time I've worked out what i could do with my time, it'll be time to go home! Yes Jen, of course, I'll still spend every hour revising! :D
