Filling space in the day, I set about thinking what I'd miss about Paris. Of course I'll miss it, and of course I'll come out to visit whenever I can - ideal for a short weekend away etc, but let's be honest, if we don't get hung up about the exact details, every place has its own mini-Paris, right?

The Eiffel Tower vs. The RSC Tower (Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford). Only 268 metres' difference... who's to notice?! Mr. Eiffel definitely had more ambition and imagination though.
Ahhh absolutely amazing! Like twin churches. :) The first one is in Versailles (South-West of Paris), and the second is one of the main 'monuments' of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Two little bobble-topped buildings to fill the skylines. Both represent new architecture in their surroundings, with the Sacre-Coeur built to reassert the 'spiritual side of France' after the revolution. Paris definitely beats Leamington spa's boxy Temple...

Tour buses for two tourist-filled towns!

This is a hard one. Both showing off gothic architecture: the first is Notre Dame, and the second is the Parish Church of Leamington Spa. Neat, huh?

And you definitely can't beat a good shopping experience. Paris' Galleries LaFayette goes for elaborate balconies and designer shops, compared to Leamington with it's 'big is better' approach in vast areas. (And it's certainly a lot cheaper!)

And Palais de Tokyo vs. Leamington Spa's Royal Pump Rooms. Pillars, prestige and pride.
A bit of fun. Paris definitely is 'cream of the crops', and people weren't wrong to nickname it 'the most beautiful city', but it's nice to see small reminders in my hometowns. :)
